Modular Homes Show The Way

The Image of Modular Homes

The image of the old modular home has gone by the wayside. That box home split in two halves moving down the highway kind of concept. That vision does not come close to matching the reality of modular homes available today.

What is modular? Something is modular if it includes or uses modules which can be interchanged as units. Modular homes of the past were from one or two basic floor plans.  Typically it was constructed in a factory of one piece construction, divided into two sections and shipped out to location.

With today's concept, modules are built in a wide variety of designs, shapes and styles. The manufacturers produce these modules to be interchangeable so that many final looks are achievable and distinctly different homes are possible even though you have a factory manufactured product,

There is absolutely nothing wrong with factory manufacture. There is no better way to ensure precise fit, quality of materials and quality control in assembly.

Computer technology today allows you to assemble various modules and get immediate feedback and present you with a genuine visualization of the end product. The home can be placed in a landscaped setting and the interior can be decorated to taste. You can see it all before you even put a shovel in the ground.

Because most of the construction including plumbing and electrical is completed under controlled conditions, there are no construction design surprises suddenly arising during the actual construction stages. Designs can be very elaborate, yet you won't be required to hire an expensive architect and pass through several construction engineers.

New modular homes can now incorporate all the latest technologies including communications systems, entertainment systems , advanced lighting controls, state of the art zone climate control, integrated protections systems that monitor the home for such things as water, fire and carbon monoxide dangers and unauthorized entry monitoring systems as well.

Project design can easily incorporate extras such as galley ways or conduits to accommodate technological advances and connectivity of the near future. Modular homes being standardized, make retrofit and repair constructions for the home owner easier and more convenient.

Economy materials and cookie cutter designs have become a thing of the past. In fact many of the new tools and fastener systems that were developed for factory constructed homes are now common in conventional home construction. The modular homes construction industry enhanced, improved and developed new materials, equipment, fasteners and construction techniques. Quicker and more stronger framing techniques were introduced by the modular housing industry.

The differences between modular homes and traditional home construction have become much less significant and the world of computers and space age materials.

New manufacturing techniques are being developed on a regular basis and that will only make modular homes higher in quality, yet affordable alternate to traditional construction.

Don't be surprised to find you are driving past modular homes today and you are not even aware of the fact. Designs have become so much more complex and original that they are often mistakable for traditional construction.
